Member Types
AGMA brings together a diverse group of stakeholders committed to protecting intellectual property (IP) and promoting best practices across industries. We offer several membership categories to accommodate organizations and individuals based on their roles and areas of expertise:
Manufacturer Members
Manufacturer Members are companies or individuals who:
- Own or hold the rights to a registered trademark or service mark
- Use that mark to brand goods or services in the following industries:
- Information technology
- Electronic components
- Computer hardware and/or software
- Semiconductor manufacturing
- Telecommunications
- Consumer electronics manufacturing
These members are directly involved in producing branded products within the technology sector.
Associate Members
Associate Membership is available to organizations or individuals who:
- Are interested in the work of the association but are not eligible for Manufacturer Membership
- Own or hold rights to a trademark or service mark used to brand finished goods, services, or publications
- Operate in industries outside of the core technology sector
- Would like to share or learn best practices for intellectual property protection that apply across industries
Relevant best practices include:
- Gray market diversion
- Counterfeit mitigation
- Service and warranty fraud
- Software piracy
- Other common IP challenges
Note: Prospective Associate Members must have a valid federal taxpayer identification number.
Product and Service Provider Members
This membership category is designed for organizations that offer tools, services, or solutions to help companies fight intellectual property violations. These may include:
- Law firms
- Accounting and auditing firms
- Security labeling companies
- Forensic investigators specializing in brand protection
- Consultants and business solution providers
Government and Law Enforcement Members
This category is open to individuals who:
- Are employed by a federal, state, or local government agency
- Are responsible for investigating or enforcing laws related to intellectual property violations
Common areas of focus include:
- Counterfeit goods
- Gray market activity
- Warranty and service fraud
- Software piracy
Eligible agencies may include, but are not limited to:
- Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
- Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS)
- Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
- U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
Distributor Members
Distributor Members are companies or individuals who:
- Have an active contractual relationship with brand owners
- Operate in one or more of the following sectors:
- Information technology
- Electronic components
- Computer hardware/software
- Semiconductor and telecommunications
- Proprietary or consumer electronics manufacturing
