What We Do

AGMA provides an open forum where the members can discuss trends, challenges, and solutions among themselves and directly interact with various government agencies and other organizations concentrated on intellectual property rights matters.

Striving to become synonymous with IP protection, AGMA and its members are looking to position the organization as the preeminent resource for best practices and education in these matters. AGMA’s advantage lies in the quality of its membership. This unique group of highly influential companies can discuss these pressing matters effectively – and has the ability to react very flexibly to new challenges.

AGMA is continuously evolving, learning and expanding its knowledge in the areas of gray market, counterfeiting, and service and warranty fraud. More recently, our members are increasingly challenged by also protecting their digital intellectual property. Hence, developing best practices in protecting digital IP is becoming a critical element of overall IP protection.

AGMA has collaborated with leading consulting firms on multiple studies around counterfeiting, gray market, service and warranty fraud, incentive abuse, channel management, and the impact on the IT industry. These whitepapers detail better practices for identifying and containing threats to IP, and solutions in addressing areas of fraud, abuse, and breach.

AGMA uses a variety of avenues to cultivate change in the marketplace, including event speaking, educational initiatives, benchmark studies, industry guidelines, and, where appropriate, public policy advocacy.

AGMA welcomes any technology manufacturer, as well as persons or entities that own or hold intellectual property rights to finished goods outside the technology industry; product and service providers who provide goods and/or services to combat gray market fraud, counterfeiting and warranty and service abuse threats; and government and law enforcement officials.

For more information about AGMA membership, please contact Cynthia Abbott, Executive Director, at [email protected] or (252)500-0123.

Our Mission

AGMA’s primary focus is on industry and public education, sharing and developing best practices to effectively hinder threats to intellectual property and render these activities more difficult, undesirable and unprofitable. AGMA’s role is to present members and the industry with strategic ideas for addressing key IP protection issues, and to introduce better controls or processes in mitigating threats to IP.

Membership in AGMA provides access to important programs, strategies and tools for combating gray marketing and counterfeiting of branded products, service and warranty fraud and protection of IP in a digital format.
